Figurative Follies:
Much of my art is created in the tension between the need for connection with the world and the strong desire for the comfort of solitude. Many of the images seen here express this tension with a central figure, often alone, either in connection with, or in sanctuary from, the world. They are composed intuitively, as I reach down deep into the layers of my personal symbolism, as well as tapping into the collective unconscious. While some of my work revolves around withdrawing from the demands of everyday life and lingering in loveliness, I'm also attempting to strip away illusions and express a central truth, often one that is uncomfortable, for there is no light without darkness, no beauty without ugliness.
